May 13^th Swearing In for New Attorneys

4:30 in the Durham Courthouse (Courtroom 4, 4^th Floor)

The Durham Bar welcomes all newly licensed attorneys and those who have not yet been sworn in to practice to join us at the Durham Courthouse for a swearing-in followed by a party at nearby Tyler's.  If you need to be sworn in, please contact erall@oliveandolive.com.

Please join members of the Durham Bar, Durham Young Lawyers and Durham Orange Women Attorney’s in welcoming the start of summer at Tyler’s in American Tobacco (http://www.tylerstaproom.com/restaurants/durham). For those of you who haven’t been to Tyler’s before, it is a local restaurant and bar that features a good and ever-changing beer list (including beer flights), as well as wine, hard liquor, nonalcoholic beverages, and great food.  We’ll be in the back section known as the Speakeasy, where you’ll be able to mix, mingle and generally enjoy yourselves.

Bar Exam Writing Clinic: Quick Tips to Improve Your Score

The North Carolina Bar Association’s Minorities in the Profession Committee and Young Lawyers Division Bar Exam Committee announce the Bar Exam Writing Clinic to individuals sitting for the July 2010 North Carolina Bar Exam.

 

The focus of the clinic is to provide bar candidates with the opportunity to get practical information about the North Carolina Bar Exam.  The Clinic will include a representative from the North Carolina Board of Examiners who will cover topics such as how the bar exam questions are selected and scored, and stories from successful attorneys about surviving and conquering the bar exam. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a portion of the program specifically directed to the essay questions, which will include tips on how bar candidates can improve their essay writing skills.

 

You must RSVP if you plan to attend.
